Major development for Tennessee.
Sam Leavitt has made his decision — he’ll be joining Lane Kiffin’s year-one team at LSU. The veteran quarterback will take over under center in Baton Rouge after Tennessee and LSU battled for Leavitt over the weekend.
Leavitt was in Knoxville late last week for a couple of days on a visit. He was spotted at LSU the day before, and then Kiffin reported paid him a visit on Friday in Knoxville while Leavitt was in town. Leavitt’s 2025 season was cut short due to injury, but he was able to lead the Sun Devils to the College Football Playoff back in 2024. He’ll now try to do the same with the Tigers.
For Tennessee, things have officially gotten to a tough spot on the quarterback front. The Volunteers have five-star signee Faizon Brandon and redshirt freshman George MacIntyre on the roster. While both were highly recruited, neither one will enter 2026 with any playing experience.
Tennessee is expected to lose Joey Aguilar after a legal battle with the NCAA. Should that happen, the Volunteers may turn to former Missouri quarterback Beau Pribula. Pribula visited Knoxville over the weekend.
Will that be Tennessee’s answer? That would fix the numbers problem, but also likely set up a legitimate three-man quarterback battle to begin this spring. Or will we see Tennessee get involved elsewhere?
