Will he leave in January?
Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has been sent a fresh warning about his future ahead of World Cup 2026.
Germany sporting director Rudi Voller has made it clear once again that the stopper needs to be playing regularly before this summer’s tournament in North America, Mexico and Canada.
“Ter Stegen has to play. Especially after his injury, and given his injury history, he needs to get match fitness to regain his form. Regardless of his quality,” Völler told Sport1.
This is not the first time that Voller has warned Ter Stegen about his playing time, but it’s still not clear what will happen next with the goalkeeper.
Ter Stegen is believed to be open to a transfer to Girona on loan, but any more to Michel’s side is difficult as they can’t afford to pay his whole salary.
Barcelona could help the move go through by agreeing to pay some of Ter Stegen’s salary, but it’s not yet clear if the Catalans are willing to do such a deal.
