FC Bayern could be eyeing a different midfielder than originally thought.
According to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Bayern Munich is competing with both Manchester City and Manchester United for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson:
The European market is stirring amid growing interest from Bayern Munich in Elliot Anderson , the midfielder currently dazzling at Nottingham Forest .
Bayern Munich is considering a major signing next summer, believing the 23-year-old represents the ideal evolution for their current German tactical system. Competition for the England international is fierce, placing the Bavarian giants in a direct race against financial powerhouses like Manchester City and Manchester United.
Chelsea are also closely monitoring the movements of this midfielder, whose market value has climbed to sixty million euros according to the latest Transfermarkt reports. However, the City Ground club will not make his departure easy, valuing their star player at between eighty and one hundred million pounds for the summer.
So what has caught Bayern Munich’s eye on Anderson? Fichajes laid that out as well:
Bayern Munich scouts highlight Anderson’s innate ability to orchestrate play with precise passing and his physical stamina, essential for success in the demanding Bundesliga. Bayern Munich particularly values his versatility in midfield, enabling a seamless transition between defense and attack with a truly enviable vision. Anderson’s work rate allows him to cover large areas of the pitch, a characteristic perfectly suited to the intensity required by modern German football.
It is clear that Leon Goretzka will be leaving the club, which will require the club to add another midfielder. Will Anderson be the one? Recent rumors have linked Bayern Munich to other young midfielders, but there is also a chance that the Bavarians promote from within.
One thing is certain, if Bayern Munich really does want Anderson, it had better be ready to outduel Manchester City and Manchester United.
