ROCKTON, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — A large crowd turned out a Hononegah Wednesday night expecting to see a tight ball game between two of the top teams in the NIC-10, but this game was far from tight.
Auburn defeated Hononegah 72-40 in a second half that had a running clock. Auburn led 17-8 after the first quarter and 37-20 at halftime. The lead just kept growing in the second half.
Champ Parker sparked the Knights in the first half when he scored 13 of his 20 points. Parker also grabbed ten rebounds, and he had four assists. Amir Danforth led the Knights in scoring with 24 points. Darian Royal finished with ten. Mikwan Marshall capped off Auburn’s night with a steal and a dunk.
Wyatt Henson scored ten points to lead Hononegah. The normally excellent shootings Indians shot only 24.5% from the field in this game, and they were only 4 of 24 from behind the arc for 16.7%.
Auburn’s record is now 12-6, 7-1. Hononegah’s record is 16-3, 7-2. Watch the media player for highlights.
