Wolfsburg winger Andreas Skov Olsen’s reported on loan out to Glasgow Rangers has been officially confirmed. Skov Olsen’s Bundesliga club announced the completion of Skov Olsen’s short-term loan on Friday evening. All German footballing media outlets confirm that the Scottish Premiership side have secured a purchase option as part of the deal, but no precise figure is being cited yet.
Skov Olsen maintains an estimated market value of €10m. This was recently downgraded from €14m in the latest December Transfermarkt update. During his peak at Club Brugge in March of 2022, Skov Olsen was considered a €20m-valued player. Wolfsburg paid €11m (with an unrealized €3m in bonuses) to acquire him from Belgian outfit almost precisely one year ago today.
Skov Olsen will be serving under German head coach Danny Röhl during a very interesting time in the Scottish League. Edinburgh’s Hearts of Midlothian – aided by German keeper Alexander Schwolow – sit six points clear at the top of the table. Hearts seek to make history by breaking a 40-year-grip of Glaswegian sides on the title.
Statements on Skov Olsen’s Arrival
“We’ve gotten a player who has proven himself at the highest level and has experience of dealing with pressure at both national and European level,” Röhl noted in a statement posted on Rangers’ website. “He will bring real quality to the final third of the pitch.”
“I’m very happy that it worked out,” the player himself added. “Rangers are Scotland’s biggest club. They have a long history and great tradition. When I heard that I had the opportunity to come here, I didn’t hesitate for a second. I want to help win trophies.“
