ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Local MMA and kickboxing took over Elmira with a huge show.
Gladius Fights 48 thrilled fight fans at the LECOM Event Center Turf Arena, on Saturday. Spearheaded by Elmira’s Matt Phillips and Babyface Promotions, Gladius put the best of the best in amateur and pro MMA on display, with several local names earning wins.
A pair of champions were crowned to highlight the night, as Ithaca’s unbeaten Rohan Makepeace improved his record to (3-0), defeating Sayre’s Travis Ruvolo via 1st round knockout. With the thrilling victory, the 19-year-old brings the 145lbs Amateur MMA title to the BroJo of Homer, New York. Buffalo’s Austin Silliman also earned gold, knocking out Nyles Rife in round 1, for the 205lbs title, in the Co-Main Event.
Of the local names earning wins, Sayre’s Kyle Farr defeated Corning’s Joe Coffey via unanimous decision, in a 185lbs amateur kickboxing bout. Elmira’s Corey Keller defeated Issac Gardner with a 1st round knockout, in just 1 minute and 55 seconds. Fellow Elmira native Emilee Dallas earned the 2nd win of her career, defeating Marissa Bailey via unanimous decision, while representing 5th Round Fitness MMA. Representing Sayre’s Wolfpack Jiu Jitsu, Elmira’s Dakota Warren also earned a hometown win via split decision over Isaac Guthrie.
