It was reported earlier that Mamdou Mbacke Fall is set to become the second high-profile player after Pedro Fernandez Dro to leave Barcelona in this winter transfer window.
Dro had earlier sent shockwaves across Barcelona by deciding to leave the club, with Paris Saint-Germain now leading the race to secure his services for just €6 million
Mbacke appears to be the next in line, with the young defender leaving Barcelona after joining the club permanently for just €2 million in 2024.
Reports earlier had suggested that Mbacke was set for a move to MLS despite receiving offers from second division clubs in Spain and Italy. But it appears we now know the player’s potential destination.
Mbacke set for a move to St. Louis City
According to the latest report from Diario SPORT, Mbacke is all set to join MLS club St. Louis City in a permanent deal.
The report adds that Mbacke has already passed his medical checkup in Barcelona, and the announcement could be made official in a matter of hours.
Barcelona are set to recoup part of the €2 million investment they made in Mbacke in 2024, although the exact figure of the deal has not been disclosed.
At St Louis, Mamadou Mbacke Fall could partner up alongside his namesake Fallou Fall in defence, though he will face competition from the likes of Timo Baumgartl, Joshua Yaro and Kyle Hiebert.
St. Louis City SC do not boast the services of a star player in particular, being one of the smaller teams in MLS. However, they do have former Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Burki as their captain.
Mbacke, for his part, enjoys a lot of recognition in MLS, having initially joined Barcelona in a move from LA Galaxy.
