Former Orlando Pirates winger Kudakwashe Mahachi has resurfaced at Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League (PSL) sleeping giants Highlanders FC.

The 32-year-old is unattached after parting ways with Manica Diamonds at the end of the previous Zim PSL campaign.

Mahachi returned to his native Zimbabwe in February 2024 after a spell with Ghana's Medeama, whom he joined after over a year in the wilderness.

Now, he is under assessment at Highlanders, who recently appointed South African tactician Thabo Senong as their new head coach.

Notably, Mahachi previously played for ‘Bosso’, as the club is fondly known, in the 2013/14 season, before joining Mamelodi Sundowns the subsequent term.

During his time in the lucrative South African topflight division, he also turned out for the now-defunct SuperSport United and Golden Arrows, where he reached the pinnacle of his career.

With over 180 appearances and 23 goals with 20 assists, Mahachi presents a perfect market opportunity for Highlanders.

The club is searching for their first league title since 2006, amid ongoing financial woes and a pending FIFA case with Dutch trainer Pieter de Jongh.
