Away Day: A road trip playlist for Ohio State’s trip to New Jersey

When Land-Grant Holy Land goes on the road to cover Ohio State women’s basketball, it is more than likely behind the wheel of a nearly 17-year old internal combustion engine. “The Toaster,” as the car is aptly named, will be at The Coretta Scott King Classic, along with SBNation’s home for Ohio State athletics.

Normally, trips for Ohio State women’s basketball start earlier in the season, but a home-heavy nonconference schedule, games in the Caribbean and a weekday-heavy Big Ten away trip slate means the extended three-day weekend is the first of the season.

It is also still the start of the 2026 calendar, so the theme for this playlist is the best of 2025. Now, this playlist will not last the entire eight hours from Central Ohio to Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center, but most songs come from an outstanding album released last year.

The songs, and the artists’ albums, are as diverse in genre as the playing styles of Big Ten teams. If rock is your thing, it is covered. Want something more country or Americana? You got it. Want to move? Get your dancing shoes ready. How about something weird and unexpected? It is there.

There is no method to the madness. No specific order needed, and it is made to shuffle. If something catches your ear, find the full album and give it a listen. If nothing sounds good whatsoever, nobody made you push play, except yourself.
