Italian pundits Massimo Callegari and Riccardo Trevisani believe Inter have a clear plan of action if Davide Frattesi is sold in the coming months, insisting the club should move decisively for Marco Palestra.
Speaking on Sport Mediaset, the pair were asked how Inter should reinvest any potential fee from Frattesi, who has been repeatedly linked with a move away from San Siro, including interest from Nottingham Forest.
Their answer was immediate and unanimous.
According to Trevisani, Palestra represents both a tactical solution and a long-term investment for the Nerazzurri.
“That is the only position where Inter don’t have strong alternatives to the starter,” he explained. “It would be an investment for the future, especially if Denzel Dumfries were to leave.”

Palestra’s versatility was highlighted as a key factor.
The young Italian is capable of operating on both flanks, offering Inter flexibility in wide areas where depth has often been an issue across a long season.
Callegari echoed that assessment, stressing the player’s physical profile and technical quality.
He described him as “very strong” and already well-suited to Serie A demands.
From Inter’s perspective, the logic is clear.
If Frattesi departs, the club would be expected to reinvest domestically.
Therefore, targeting young Italian profiles capable of growing into the squad rather than immediate high-cost replacements.
Palestra fits that brief, particularly given the uncertainty surrounding Dumfries’ long-term future.
No formal negotiations are underway.
However, the comments underline a growing belief in Italy that Inter should act early if a major sale materialises.
Indeed, rather than waiting for the market to dictate terms.
