Marseille want to sign Arsenal attacker Ethan Nwaneri on loan for the rest of the season, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein. The Arsenal academy graduate has found playing minutes hard to come by at the Emirates Stadium club, and the Gunners could be open to a loan exit. Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi has held positive talks with his Arsenal counterpart Mikel Arteta and Nwaneri.
A decision is expected from the England youth international in the coming days, but the North London favour the Italian’s style of play, and a move to Ligue 1 could be on the cards. However, Nwaneri would need a guarantee of regular playing opportunities for him to accept to swap Arsenal for Marseille until the end of the season. The 18-year-old played 37 games across all competitions for the Gunners last term but has played just 12 times this term.
Nwaneri has not started a league game this season, coming off the bench six times, and his playing chances remain limited due to the impacts of summer arrivals Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke.
