Lewis Hamilton has made a lot of money buying various machines, such as a Pagani Zonda that made him millions.
And his ex-rival Sebastian Vettel has also owned some incredible cars. While driving for the Ferrari team, he gathered quite the collection.
On the track, his years in red are remembered for bringing him close to a dream championship for the Scuderia, but not quite far enough.
His driving between 2015 and 2020 probably warranted a title, but a variety of reasons, from development to reliability to mistakes, all saw him fall short.
He certainly achieved enough during his time with Red Bull to be heralded as one of the greatest of all time. No one will be able to take that away from him.
Sebastian Vettel sold three of his Ferrari cars during the 2021 Formula 1 season
After a difficult season in 2020, Ferrari opted against renewing Vettel’s contract for the future, leaving him to sign elsewhere or head to retirement.
He opted to go to Aston Martin for two years, and ahead of the new season, made the decision to sell some of his coveted car collection.
Models included the Ferrari F40, F50, and LaFerrari, as well as a few Mercedes models. Fans at the time felt as though it might have been a statement about leaving Ferrari.
But that wasn’t the case, and he made that clear ahead of his Aston Martin debut in March 2021. He simply wanted to create more ‘space’.
“I think it just feels good to have a bit more space,” he told Motorsport-Total. “I’m generally very busy in my life. That’s the whole story behind it. No big secrets.”
Will Sebastian Vettel ever return to Formula 1?
Over the last few years, Vettel has been linked with a return to the paddock both behind the scenes and as a driver.
The German competed in his last race over three years ago at the 2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Since then, he has been enjoying the quiet life with his family.
It doesn’t appear that replacing Helmut Marko in an advisory role is possible, and there hasn’t been anything to suggest that he might want to drive again over the last 12 months.
He has an interest in other series, such as the World Endurance Championship, but not much has been said about that since he did a test in a Porsche a few years ago.
