EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — After splitting their trip to Tennessee, the University of Southern Indiana men’s basketball head coach Stan Gouard said the team will continue to make changes to their starting lineup.
Last week Coach Gouard changed the starting lineup and the gameplan ahead of their road game at Tennessee Tech and the Screaming Eagles won their first Ohio Valley Conference game of the season.
Gouard said despite some players naturally not liking the change in their roles they responded professionally and it showed on the court. Now as they continue to try to find ways to win games more shakes ups to the lineup are on the way.
“I think at the time you question it because you’re looking for answers with everybody but at the same time like I told Habib and a couple of other guy, it’s not like we’re winning right now with the lineups we had in,” said Gouard. “But it got guys’ attention, woke them up, and forced those guys to play a different way. Now had we lost that game on Thursday night I would guarantee they would question what we’re doing but you know it worked out in our favor, and we’re going to continue try to do things different.”
USI will be back on the Liberty Arena floor Thursday, January 22nd, in a “white-out” game against Eastern Illinois at 7:30 p.m. The game is set to stream on ESPN Plus.
