Roma vs Milan – Revealing statistics drive narrative in massive Scudetto clash

Sunday’s showdown between Roma and AC Milan is shaping up to be one of the defining games of the Serie A season, and the numbers behind the two sides help explain why.

According to data released by Serie A, via MilanNews, Milan have built much of their title push on second-half dominance.

No team in the league has gained more points after the break compared to half-time results, with the Rossoneri posting a +13 swing.

Roma are not far behind, second overall alongside Juventus on +10, highlighting two sides who consistently grow into games rather than fade.

Stats reveal ruthless Milan & defensive Roma

Milan’s matches also tend to hinge on key moments around the interval.

They are among the league’s top scorers in the final 15 minutes of the first half and are outright leaders for goals scored in the opening quarter-hour of the second half.

In other words, Milan strike when games are most unstable.

Discipline and fine margins add another layer.

Milan have conceded more penalties than any other side in the league this season, while Roma remain the only team yet to have a spot-kick awarded against them.

That contrast feeds directly into Roma’s biggest strength: defensive solidity. With just 12 goals conceded, the Giallorossi boast the best defensive record in Serie A.

There is also Milan’s remarkable consistency. Across Europe’s top five leagues, no team is currently on a longer unbeaten run than the Rossoneri, who have stretched that sequence to 20 matches.

Interestingly, they have achieved this while making fewer substitutions than any other Serie A side, yet still leading the league for goals scored by substitutes.
