Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka were among the first big names to leave the PGA Tour for LIV Golf in 2022.
While Johnson has embraced his new life with LIV, Koepka wasn’t as settled. He departed the league in December 2025.
It was only two weeks ago when Koepka was reinstated as a PGA Tour member.
Losing a five-time major winner like Koepka was a hit for LIV, especially since their off-season signings haven’t exactly turned heads so far.
This week in Dubai, Johnson spoke about how important it is for LIV Golf to keep hold of Bryson DeChambeau.
Johnson seems fully committed to LIV, but there are questions about whether Koepka’s exit had any impact on him.
Dustin Johnson reacts to Brooks Koepka’s move back to the PGA Tour
If there’s one thing you can say about Dustin Johnson, it’s that he doesn’t shy away from giving an honest answer.
With that in mind, who better to ask about Koepka’s move than someone who knows him well? The pair have been close throughout their careers and have shared plenty of time together both on and off the course.
Speaking with Today’s Golfer, Johnson was asked what he made of Koepka’s decision to leave LIV Golf behind.
Johnson replied: “Look, Brooks is doing whatever he thinks is best for him. I haven’t really talked to him that much – seen him back home at practice, we played a little bit. Just haven’t talked about why or what he did it for. I can’t really comment on him. You’d have to ask him that.
“I don’t really care one way or the other. Brooks can do whatever he thinks is best. Whether he plays on LIV or anywhere else, happy for him. Doesn’t matter. Doesn’t hurt us or not hurt us, I don’t think.”
LIV’s future: What the next decade might hold
While Johnson may not agree, there’s a case to be made that Koepka’s departure is a real setback for LIV.
But the real turning point could come if Bryson DeChambeau or Jon Rahm ever choose to leave as well.
Since then, they’ve built serious momentum and look stronger than ever.
LIV needs to land a headline signing of their own if they want to swing some momentum back in their favour. The question is whether they can actually pull it off.
