Jeremy Vines, the Rivals’ 2025 Alabama High School Football Coach of the Year, had made it be known on Thursday he was no longer at Bullock County (Ala.) and not long later into the evening where his next destination will be.
Vines made an announcement via social media that he is accepting the head football coaching job at Hueytown (Ala.). This past 2025 Alabama high school football season, Vines led the Hornets to its best record in program history at 9-4 last season, leading the team to its deepest playoff run ever.
“When I arrived at Bullock County, my goal was simple: to leave this program better than it was when I found it,” Vines said in the statement he released Thursday night. “Together, we did exactly that. We built a real offseason program, increased accountability, competed every Friday night, and won a first ever playoff game in school history. More importantly, we established standards-discipline, toughness, unity, and pride-that will last beyond wins and losses.”
“Our players grew on and off the field. The culture changed. Expectations changed. And Bullock County football took meaningful steps forward. I want to thank the players for buying in, the coaches for grinding every day, and the parents and community for standing behind us. This place helped shape me as a leader, and I will forever be thankful. With that being said, I am grateful to Principal Howard and the Jefferson County Board of Education for the opportunity to serve as the next Head Football Coach at Hueytown High School. I am excited for this next chapter and the challenge ahead.”
Vines guided the Hornets to playoff victories over Oak Grove and Mobile Christian School before falling in the third round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Class 4A playoffs.
Hueytown is the alma mater to current NFL quarterback Jameis Winston. The Golden Gophers ended this past season with an 8-5 record and finished ranked No. 38 in the final 2025 Alabama High School Football Massey Rankings.
