Despite being a dead-rubber tie, Danny Rohl fielded a strong Rangers side in the Europa League when they hosted Ludogorets on Thursday night. The gaffer wanted to “keep the momentum going“, and a steady 1-0 victory has now extended their winning streak to seven games ahead of hosting Dundee on Sunday evening.
Rangers are level on points with Celtic, but the Old Firm rivals are still six points behind the league leaders Hearts after 22 gameweeks. Hearts and Celtic will lock horns this weekend at Tynecastle, and a win over Dundee should strengthen their position in the three-horse title race. Although the Dark Blues are struggling lower down the Premiership standings, the Light Blues were lucky to salvage a point, thanks to an injury-time spot-kick from James Tavernier, when they clashed heads at Ibrox early into the season.
Predicted 4-2-3-1 Rangers Lineup To Face Dundee
Defence
Jack Butland has been in majestic form, with three successive clean sheets across competitions. He made multiple key saves against the Bulgarian outfit, and his presence between the sticks could frustrate the Dee, who are struggling for goals.

Max Aarons impressed down the right in Europe, but might make way for Tavernier, given his experience and leadership attributes. John Souttar’s knock should see Nasser Djiga keep his place in the heart of the backline alongside Manny Fernandez. Jayden Meghoma is irreplaceable on the left, with January recruit Tuur Rommens still working towards regaining full fitness. Dujon Sterling and Derek Cornelius are closing in on injury returns, but the weekend fixture would be too soon for the defensive pair.
Midfield
Tochi Chukwuani might finally make his debut upon his winter arrival from Sturm Graz. However, Rohl must not hand him an immediate start, as Nicolas Raskin and Mohamed Diomande are expected to orchestrate the show from the middle of the park. In-form Thelo Aasgaard should keep his place, as he would either operate as a ‘number 10’ or box-to-box, depending on the gaffer’s shift in formation from 4-2-3-1 to 4-3-3 for tactical reasons.
Attack
Although the fans are excited to see Andreas Skov Olsen in action, Rohl must not rush things up and stick with Mikey Moore and Djeidi Gassama on the flanks. Oliver Antman, Danilo and Findlay Curtis are also there among the wide attacking options, but Skov Olsen, the high-profile January arrival from Wolfsburg, should be involved as a substitute. Regardless of his hat-trick against Annan Athletic, Bojan Miovski is being viewed as the understudy to Youssef Chermiti high up the pitch.
