The New York Yankees claimed outfielder Michael Siani off waivers after the Los Angeles Dodgers designated him for assignment on Wednesday.

The Dodgers put Siani on waivers to make room for All-Star outfielder Kyle Tucker, who they signed to a four-year, $240 million deal. Siani spent about a month and a half on the Dodgers, as they claimed him off waivers from the Atlanta Braves in Dec. 2025.

Siani has spent the last two and a half seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals, functioning mainly as a center fielder. He has a fantastic glove, posting 16 outs above average in his only full MLB season in 2024, but has never posted an OPS above .570 and only has two home runs in 160 career MLB games.

Did Michael Siani Have a Place With the Dodgers?

Even before Tucker joined the Dodgers, Siani was most likely their fifth-choice outfielder.

On top of Andy Pages and Teoscar Hernandez, who have starting spots come Opening Day all but locked up, the Dodgers had last year’s Pacific Coast League MVP Ryan Ward and trade deadline acquisition Alex Call available for the final spot.

Additionally, the Dodgers are expected to bring back Kiké Hernandez at the beginning of the season, and he can also play in the outfield.

Siani has less offensive production or major league experience — or both — than all three options, meaning he likely wouldn’t have had a shot at making the roster come Opening Day.
