Real Madrid defender tipped for Ballon d’Or by Premier League club director: ‘He does everything right’

Real Madrid’s summer signing Dean Huijsen started life in Spain with a fabulous run of form, earning praise from across the globe for his composure, distribution and defensive awareness.

However, it has all fallen apart in recent months after he began struggling for form and the likes of Antonio Rudiger returned from injury, providing more competition in the department.

Now, at a time when the club is again facing a crisis in central defence, the youngster’s availability continues to be in doubt.

He is travelling with the squad, but his sparse participation is raising serious questions about his fitness.

Huijsen for the Ballon d’Or?

Amidst all this, Bournemouth’s director of football, Tiago Pinto, made a massive statement via MARCA about his club’s former player and the current Real Madrid star, claiming that he was the only centre-back who could win the elusive Ballon d’Or.

“Now I’ll give you a headline. For me, Dean Huijsen is the only centre-back who can win the Ballon d’Or.”

Elaborating on why he placed the young Spaniard on such a high pedestal, the Premier League club official said,

“That’s what I think of Dean Huijsen, because if one day you have a coach who makes him play and you put him as a midfielder, he’ll be one of the best you’ve ever seen play.”

He then revealed how Huijsen is an all-around player who can operate not only as a defender but also excels in finishing and attacking aspects of his game.

“When our coach ran finishing drills, Dean Huijsen was one of the best. The kid has football in his body. He does everything right.”

Finally, he opened up on where he felt the centre-back still must improve and how he can go on to become an all-time great.

“He has to learn and develop other things, but he plays with both right and left, he’s tall, he scores goals, he has spectacular technique.”
