Kentucky has been hit hard on the injury front.
Despite injuries to key players, the Kentucky Wildcats have won five in a row and are now 5-2 in SEC play after defeating Ole Miss 72-63.
That’s one game better than they were through seven SEC games last year.
After Saturday’s 72-63 win over Ole Miss at Rupp Arena, Kentucky head coach Mark Pope gave an update on Kam Williams and Jaland Lowe, both of whom need surgery to repair their injuries.
Williams sustained a broken foot in Wednesday’s win over Texas. He had surgery on Friday, and it’s unclear how long exactly he will be out. There is hope he may be able to come back, potentially in March, but the timeline is still uncertain.
Lowe has been out since going down against Mississippi State. He’s on his way to have surgery, which is why he wasn’t on the UK bench, and is expected to miss around six months. That means he could potentially return sometime during summer workouts, but at worst, should be ready for the start of fall camp.
Kentucky is now 14-6 (5-2, SEC) and will travel to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt on Tuesday night, before a massive road game at Arkansas next Saturday night.
