Barcelona star could be handed a first start for several months vs

Barcelona star Ronald Araújo could be in line for a first start in two months in the club’s upcoming meeting with Real Oviedo.

This was confirmed by manager Hansi Flick on Saturday.

Stopper Araújo is for his part of course fresh off an altogether difficult couple of months from a personal standpoint.

After being subjected to widespread abuse in the aftermath of a costly red card picked up during a Champions League clash with Chelsea back in November, the Uruguayan required a complete break from all football-related activities.

Now seemingly recovered, Araújo spent recent weeks reintegrating himself into Hansi Flick’s ranks, giving rise to a substitute appearance against Slavia Praha in midweek.

And if the latest comments on the part of his manager are anything to go by, an ensuing start could well follow on Sunday.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Real Oviedo tomorrow afternoon, Hansi Flick admitted:

“Ronald Araújo is an option to start tomorrow. We’ll see and decide later.”
