Poor Liam Rosenior has been absolutely barraged with press conferences and interviews since becoming Chelsea manager.
He’s on to his fifth match in just 3 weeks when we play Crystal Palace tomorrow, and ahead of that he spoke to Sky Sports. Despite a terrible interviewer, Rosenior’s natural charm came out, and he gave some interesting insight on what it was like coming into a dressing room as a manager and figuring out what you’ve got on your hands, in terms of personalities.
Rosenior tells story about Fulham days with world class goalkeeper
Liam Rosenior speaking about his time at Reading.
“I remember at Fulham, I was a young player, just joined Fulham,” the new Chelsea boss explained.
“The most humble, down to earth player, was Edwin var der Sar. Who happened to be the best goalkeeper in the world at the time. I’m finding the same here. The better the players, the more they want to learn, the more down to earth they are. Their image is different to who they are.”
“They want to do so well for each other… my job is just to try to enhance that.”
This does seem a pretty honest group, without too many superstars. That’s one of the advantages of signing players so young, before they’ve really achieved much. It’s easier to keep them grounded. It will be interesting to see if any of them fall foul of Rosenior in the long run.

In other news…
Brendan Rodgers coached Rosenior when he was at Reading, and the coach explained some of the things he had learned from the top English coach.
The new manager had some interesting words on Enzo Fernandez, who has already been used in a variety of roles under the new boss. It sounds like that’s not going to change.
