Football: TCU LB Namdi Obiazor accepts invitation to 2026 Senior Bowl

The defensive back-turned-linebacker was an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention in 2023.

The TCU Horned Frogs will be well represented at the 2026 Panini Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama this coming weekend. With kickoff set for less than six days, TCU sixth-year senior linebacker Namdi Obiazor has recently accepted an invitation to participate in the annual showcase game. Obiazor, who played in 53 games over four seasons, will join Kaleb Elarms-Orr, Bud Clark and All-American receiver Eric McAlister in the Senior Bowl.

Obiazor, who started his collegiate career at Iowa Western and was a JUCO All-American in 2021, played safety during his first season with the Horned Frogs. Obiazor played in all 15 games and made two starts, finishing with 49 tackles and two pass breakups. Following TCU’s 2022 season, which culminated in a trip to the national title game, Obiazor moved to linebacker and replaced Dee Winters. The change worked well for Obiazor, who earned an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention with 84 tackles, six tackles for loss, four sacks and two pass breakups in 2023.

A three-year starter at TCU, Obiazor ranked second on the team with 81 tackles, third with 6.5 tackles for loss and fifth with 2.5 sacks during the 2024 season. Obiazor would’ve had to turn pro last offseason, but in light of the Diego Pavia lawsuit, which granted additional eligibility to players who started at the JUCO level, Obiazor returned to the Horned Frogs in 2025. In his final season at TCU, Obiazor posted a career-high 88 total tackles along with four tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions and a forced fumble. The 6-foot-3, 230-pounder from Eden Prairie, Minnesota was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week against Colorado.
