Football: TCU promotes Aaron Green to assistant running backs coach

Green was TCU’s assistant director of player personnel in 2025.

As the TCU Horned Frogs continue rounding out their coaching staff, a former star running back is receiving an elevated role with his former program. Aaron Green, who starred at TCU and ran for over 2,400 yards and 20 scores, is being promoted to assistant running backs coach under new offensive coordinator Gordon Sammis.

Green served as TCU’s assistant director of player personnel in 2025 and earned his first coaching experience as an offensive analyst at UTSA. A San Antonio native, Green rushed for 1,272 yards, seventh-most in a season, and helped the Horned Frogs finish 11-2 during the 2015 season. One of his most memorable highlights occurred in Lubbock, where Green hauled in a tipped pass from quarterback Trevone Boykin for a touchdown as the Horned Frogs outlasted Texas Tech in a 55-52 shootout. Green also ran in an 86-yard touchdown in a 52-45 win at KSU.

Green went undrafted in 2016 and had a brief professional playing career with the Los Angeles Rams (2016), Dallas Cowboys (2017), Buffalo Bills (2017-18) and the San Antonio Commanders (2019) of the AAF. Green joins assistant cornerbacks coach Julius Lewis as the second former TCU player to coach for the Horned Frogs.
