Former Detroit Lions general manager Bob Quinn has joined the Atlanta Falcons as a senior advisor after his tenure with Cleveland and his firing in Detroit alongside Matt Patricia in 2020.
Former Detroit Lions general manager Bob Quinn has landed a new NFL job.
According to Ari Meirov, the Atlanta Falcons have hired Quinn as a senior advisor to head coach Kevin Stefanski. Quinn had been in Cleveland with Stefanski since 2021, working in senior personnel and executive roles, and now makes the move to Atlanta to continue in an advisory capacity.
For Lions fans, Quinn is, of course, a familiar name.
He served as Detroit’s general manager from 2016–2020, a tenure that ultimately fell short of expectations. On November 28, 2020, Quinn and head coach Matt Patricia were fired together after the franchise failed to take the next step. Quinn finished his time in Detroit with a 31–43–1 record (.420 winning percentage), and the roster construction during that era is still viewed as one of the major reasons the organization had to completely reset under Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell.
Before and after Detroit, Quinn built a long résumé in NFL front offices, most notably with the New England Patriots, where he won four Super Bowls in various scouting and personnel roles. He later resurfaced with the Browns, and now joins the Falcons’ staff as a senior advisor.
From a Detroit perspective, it’s another reminder of how far the Lions have come since the Quinn-Patricia era. While Quinn continues his NFL career elsewhere, the Lions are firmly in the Brad Holmes era now — and in a much different place competitively than when Quinn exited Allen Park in 2020.
