Young Egyptian midfielder Bilal Atiya one of Al Ahly’s rising talents has suffered broken nose during his first training session with Hannover 96.

The 18 year-old who is currently on short trial period with the German club was forced to stop the session after feeling strong pain.

According to Bild, the medical staff intervened quickly and the player left the pitch with concerns over his condition.

Atiya often called “Little Salah” because of his playing style and technical ability was hoping to use this opportunity to impress Hannover officials and take step closer toward European football.

Medical tests set to decide next steps

The injury is unexpected setback for the teenager who traveled to Germany to gain experience and show his qualities in professional environment.

Bilal Atiya is expected to undergo medical examinations in the coming hours to determine the severity of the fracture and how long he could be out.

His future in the trial period will depend on the results and it remains unclear whether he will continue training with Hannover 96.

One of Al Ahly’s brightest youth prospects

Atiya is considered one of the most promising players in Al Ahly’s youth system.

He has attracted attention through strong performances at academy level and has been closely followed in recent months.

The midfielder has played 20 match for Egypt’s U17 national team scoring eight goals and represented the country at the U17 World Cup held in November.

He has also made two brief appearances with Al Ahly’s first team this season playing 19 minute in the Egyptian League Cup.

Spanish interest also emerging

Away from Germany, reports suggest Atiya is also being monitored in Spain.

Egyptian outlet FilGoal claimed that Racing Santander, leaders of Spain’s second division, have sent official request to sign the player during the winter transfer window.

The Spanish club is believed to be exploring either loan deal or permanent transfer, with Al Ahly currently reviewing the approach.

This comes shortly after Al Ahly agreed to loan young striker Hamza Abdelkarim to Barcelona for six month, with option to buy in the summer.

A big moment in a young career

Bilal Atiya’s current trial and the growing interest from Europe show how quickly his profile is rising.

However this injury could delay important step in his development at a key stage of his career.
