Hopedale's Joshua Balzarini was voted the Daily News Boys Athlete of the Week for January 12-20. He provided two goals and two assists in a win against East Longmeadow.
Balzarini garnered 51.8 percent of the nearly 15,000 votes. He beat out Holliston wrestler Sean Klein (35.49 percent).
Now we turn our attention to this week's action and the nominees for the Daily News Boys Athlete of the Week from January 21-25:
Tom Chamberlain, Hudson hockey: Put up a hat trick in a win over Worcester.
Ben Clarkin, Lincoln-Sudbury basketball: Stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, 10 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 blocks in a win over Wellesley.
Jason Drake, Medway hockey: Had a hat trick in a draw against Westwood on Saturday. Also scored once against Norwood.
Noah Fernandez, AMSA swimming & diving: Won the 200-yard freestyle and 100 free in a victory over Wachusett.
Ezra Hatchett, Ashland wrestling: Moved up to 190 pounds and won by pin to swing the match in a victory against Hopkinton.
Boston Jack, Blackstone Valley Tech basketball: Hit five 3-pointers and scored 24 points in a win over Oxford.
Kaiwan Kimble, Marlborough basketball: Scored 29 points in a win over Collegiate Charter.
Zach Kondrat, Ashland/Medfield/Grafton alpine skiing: He finished first in the Central Mass Conference Ski League race.
Ari Levine, Hopedale indoor track & field: Won the MSTCA Coaches invitational shot put, clearing 62 feet, 2.5 inches at the Reggie Lewis Center. It's the No. 8 throw in the U.S. this winter.
Brauer Malcolm, Natick hockey: Made 28 saves in a victory against Brookline.
Alex Peterson, Westborough basketball: Scored 26 points in a win over North Middlesex.
Dylan Poirier, Algonquin basketball: Scored 26 points and led the Titans back from a nine-point halftime deficit in a 57-50 win over Wachusett.
Christos Rogaris, Dover-Sherborn/Weston hockey: Collected his fifth consecutive hat trick with three goals in a win over Dedham.
Danny Santos, Franklin basketball: Scored 25 points, as the Panthers beat Canton for their third win in a row and fifth in their past six games.
Ethan Suhajda, Holliston basketball: Scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in a win over Norton.
Ben Zhao, Algonquin swimming: Won both the 100-yard butterfly and the 100 breaststroke in a victory against Worcester.
