The midfielder has missed the last four games for City due to injury.
But he is closing in on a return to action, and could be back in the squad when his side play their final league stage game of this year’s competition.
It is yet to be decided whether City will have to face a play-off knockout round to reach the last 16, or go straight through to the round of 16 by finishing in the top eight of the league stage.
