Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown has not exactly been discreet about his issues with the offense and passing game in recent years, especially in 2025. It has sparked plenty of NFL trade rumors regarding his future in Philadelphia, and many around the league believe there is a natural landing spot in New England.

Speaking to people around the NFL ahead of the Senior Bowl, insider Tony Pauline said many of them believe the New England Patriots could make a play for acquiring Brown this offseason if he’s made available.

It’s far from a guarantee that Brown hits the trade block. After being eliminated from the postseason, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman downplayed talk of a potential deal and highlighted Brown’s importance as a ‘great player’ who is crucial to the offense.

However, there do seem to be issues between the All-Pro wide receiver and quarterback Jalen Hurts. With the team more committed to the Super Bowl MVP and the search for an offensive coordinator not going particularly well for Philadelphia, perhaps Brown sees a better path forward in his career on another team.

When Vrabel held the same role with the Tennessee Titans, he was strongly opposed to the team trading Brown. He liked having the No. 1 wideout in Tennessee and there never seemed to be issues with the star wideout that made it into the public.

Acquiring Brown would provide Maye with a true No. 1 wide receiver who defenses would have to game plan for each week next season. It is a move that could also push Diggs into the No. 2 receiving role that he seems more suited for at this stage of his career, while creating better matchups for Boutte to beat defenses downfield.

At least for now, there are no signs coming from the Eagles organization that a trade will even be considered this offseason and Brown isn’t publicly pushing to be moved by the club. If that changes, it certainly seems like New England will be one of the teams in the mix for him.
