Chelsea want to sign Jeremy Jacquet and add him to the squad before the end of the transfer window, with the situation similar of their pursuit of Enzo Fernandez in 2023 according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues weren’t expected to be busy this month, but their plans changed and they are looking to bring in a new centre back.

Chelsea have recalled Aaron Anselmino from his loan at Borussia Dortmund, whilst they’ve made Rennes star Jacquet their primary target.

The Frenchman has reportedly said yes to joining Chelsea, but the Blues are yet to reach an agreement with Rennes, who are said to want £60m.

Bayern Munich and Liverpool are also interested in Jacquet, with Rennes wanting to keep the 20-year-old until the summer.

Jacquet has stated his preference is to join Chelsea.

The France under-21 international is under contract until 2029, whilst as of yet no offers have been submitted for the youngster.

Chelsea are thought to still be pushing to sign Jacquet now, and Romano has provided an update on the situation.

“Chelsea really want Jacquet now,” he told his YouTube channel.

“This reminds me of Enzo Fernandez story when Benfica didn’t want him to leave and then he joined in January, the difference is that Jacquet has no release clause and will be very expensive to let him leave this season, but Chelsea know this and want to try and insist to bring him now.

“Let’s see, Jacquet will be special player and the race is on.”

Jacquet has made 18 appearances in all competitions this season, and is regarded as one of the best centre back prospects in Europe.

Axel Disasi close to joining West Ham

Whilst the Blues are still working on a deal with Rennes, Axel Disasi looks like he is heading to the Stamford Bridge exit door.

The Frenchman hasn’t played for Chelsea for over a year, but has featured for the development side a handful of times to build his match fitness.

However, it appears Disasi is closing in on a loan move to West Ham, which should give him the opportunity to get his career back on track after a very difficult six months.
