Patrick Reed eyes Ryder Cup return in Ireland
Patrick Reed addressed the prospect of the Ryder Cup being held on European soil and how that environment motivates him as he looks ahead to the next cycle.
He said Ireland presents a challenge he is eager to embrace given the atmosphere, the crowds, and the significance of the event for his international ambitions.
“Ireland’s going to be a little different. We’re going to come up with some attitude and hopefully I’m on that team to really bring it to you all because I will.”
Patrick Reed also spoke about his comfort playing in hostile environments and how crowd energy has historically fueled his performances on the international stage.
He referenced his past experiences at Ryder Cups and Presidents Cups while explaining why representing the United States remains a driving force in his career.
“It’s just something that I’ve always known how to deal with, especially during Ryder Cups and Presidents Cups. It’s bringing back those juices. Any way I can represent my country and play for the United States is always on my radar.”
‘Captain America’ identity remains central for Reed
Patrick Reed then expanded on how fan interaction fuels his competitive edge and shapes his on-course persona.
“They’re not trying to be harmful. They’re trying to get a rise and have a good time. They’re doing it in the right way.
“Because of that, now you get the interactions from me then I start going back and forth. Now you have the ‘Captain America against the country’. I love it.”
These recent comments underline Reed’s determination to reinsert himself into the Ryder Cup conversation.
The remarks reinforce Reed’s embrace of the ‘Captain America’ identity as he continues his push to return to golf’s biggest team event.
