After handing full debuts to Kaitlyn Torpey and Ashanti Akpan in a narrow loss at league leaders Charlton Athletic Women, Oxtoby is happy to have seen them get a full week of training under their belt with the squad this week.

Sunday's visitors to Gateshead International Stadium are Ipswich Town Women, who have added five new faces to their squad this month, as well as appointing a new interim manager in David Wright.

That's something she highlighted when ahe spoke ahead of this Sunday's home WSL2 clash. Here are some of the main talking points:

ON THE CHARLTON DEFEAT…

"It was an improved second half performance, but we always knew what Charlton were going to throw at us, and there are lessons to be learned.

"But we have to start like that, and we have to carry that over for 90-plus minutes, because there are no easy games in this league."

ON NEW SIGNINGS SETTLING IN…

"They've been good. I always think it's difficult when you're thrown in at the deep end towards the back end of the week and then head into a gameday.

"It's another week under their belt, understanding our language and what we're going for.

"They’re settling in nicely, and from our perspective, they've added a fair bit of quality to the group."

ON THE SUPPORT FROM FANS…

"I thought our fans were amazing away from home against Charlton, so a shout-out to their support because we heard them every step of the way.

"We’re looking forward to getting back home in front of our fans and putting in a really good performance."

ON IPSWICH…

"They've had a change of manager and added players to their squad, so for us it's about making sure we're ready for whatever they throw at us.

"Every game we go into, we know it's going to be a difficult one, because this league has proven that anybody can beat anybody on any given day.

"It's about making sure that our performance is top-notch for 90-plus minutes; those little details matter, and we need to make sure we're executing them."
