Joel Dahmen is making the most of his week at the Farmers Insurance Open.
Four days ago, he was still on the alternate list, on the outside looking in to get in the field at Torrey Pines. Now, Joel Dahmen is making the most of his week at the Farmers Insurance Open.
When Patton Kizzire withdrew Monday, Dahmen got a spot on the tee sheet. In Thursday's opening round, he shot 2-under 70 on the South Course, his scorecard featuring 15 pars, one bogey, one birdie and an eagle.
During Friday's round on the North Course, Dahmen flipped a switch. He opened with an eagle on No. 10, then made consecutive birdies and he was off and running.
On his second nine (the North's front nine), Dahmen eagled the par-5 fifth and the par-5 ninth.
Make that two eagles over his last five holes Friday, three eagles overall in the second round and four so far this week at Torrey.
"The North Course is playing a little easier in week but you still have to hit it in the fairway, you still have to, you know, play good golf over there," he said. "To make the eagles is a huge bonus. I hit a couple great shots into the greens and made a bomb and added up nicely today."
Three eagles in one round isn't that uncommon on the PGA Tour but four is. In fact, Scott McCarron in the second round at the 1995 American Express was the last to have four eagles in one round.
The most eagles over 72 holes is five, a feat that has been done seven times, most recently in the 2023 American Express.
Dahmen finished 93rd in the FedEx Cup standings in 2025, well short of the top 70 now required to maintain full playing privileges.
He's six shots off the lead of Justin Rose but he walked off the course tied for third.
"The South Course is very difficult," he said. The Farmers uses just the South course on the weekend. "I hit 16 greens yesterday on the South, which is really good. That's what you have to do to play well over there. With two more rounds coming up over there, hopefully the ball-striking continues."
