Florentino Perez and Real Madrid have taken a keen interest in Barcelona’s Negreira scandal and the ongoing judicial procedure intended to reach the root of the story.
In fact, the men in white even requested access to the files and documentation related to the case in recent weeks to conduct a separate audit and look for any fabrication or mismatch in the evidence.
As relayed by AS in a recent report, however, judge Alejandra Gil Lima has sided with former Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu that there is no ‘procedural standing’ for Real Madrid to demand any such access.
Specifics of the decision
Among other documentation, Real Madrid asked for the due diligence reports and forensic audit reports of Barcelona’s accounts at the time of the said payments, i.e. between 2010 and 2021.
The judge, however, ruled out any such acquisition stating that Barcelona had admitted to payments being made and that the matter in question was over the rationale behind the payment – something the reports cannot unveil.

Further, the judge sided with Barcelona stating how providing access to the entire financial accounts of the club will provide information about several other matters and expenses unrelated to the matter in hand, and thus exempted the Catalans from providing any internal or external audit of their accounts.
Real Madrid also requested information on the internal investigation file on the Negreira case, as did they reject the request for Barcelona to submit the minutes of the Tax Governance Committee.
Needless to say, the developments come as a huge blow to Real Madrid who were looking to take matters into their own hands to ensure justice is delivered. Now, however, it does not seem like they can play as big a part.
