Torquay United manager Paul Wotton praised his "professional" side as they came from a goal down to beat leaders Hornchurch 2-1.
The victory in propelled the Gulls to the top of National League South - they lead the table on goal difference from Dorking Wanderers with Hornchurch a point behind in third with a game in hand.
Angelo Balanta had given the hosts a ninth-minute lead with an excellent strike from outside the box.
But two Jordan Young goals after the interval ensured Torquay returned to Devon with three crucial points.
The club's top scorer calmly finished three minutes after the restart to draw the scores level before winning it midway through the second half as he cut inside and fired home.
"I thought we thoroughly deserved it," Wotton told BBC Radio Devon.
"At half time it was just a case of keep playing the way you're playing, but up your physicality.
"We made a change at halftime which worked as well and I think second half was a really professional, really good away performance.
"I'm very proud of the boys for their second half display and it's a good day for us."
The three points mean Torquay are unbeaten in their last six matches and have lost just twice in their last 13 games as they aim for promotion after missing out in the play-offs last season.
"It'd be flippant for me to just sit here and go 'it's just another three points'," added Wotton.
"It is, but there's a long way to go, there's 18 games to go.
"If Hornchurch had come out the right side of it, they're five points clear with a game in hand, it just starts becoming a little bit more daunting.
"But we're in with a chance."
