No. 14 Montverde Academy survived a scare vs. The Rock National in the semifinals of the MAIT before beating No. 25 Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy in the title game.

It was a battle between two teams ranked in The Sporting News Boys Basketball Top 25in the championship game of Florida's Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament.

And, in the end, it was the No. 14 hosts who lifted the trophy after defeating No. 25 Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy of Dallas Texas, 59-53, in the tournament finale.

Montverde Academy had the toughest road to the title barely surviving their semifinal clash with The Rock National, winning a 70-69 thriller Friday night. Already waiting for them at that point were the Texans who dispatched DME Academy in a 91-60 rout in the contest just prior to that.

That set up the Top 25 clash that lived up to the pre-tournament expectations with Montverde Academy escaping with a margin of just two three-point baskets to win the championship in their own invitational tournament in a strong field that also included Top 50 Riviera Prep of Florida.

Top-ranked Class of 2026 senior prospects competing at the event included Oak Cliff's twin power forwards Gavin and Gallagher Placide, both of whom signed with Wake Forest, and Montverde Academy's Joe Philon who remains unsigned. The hosts also featured SF Jayden Hodge (Northwestern) while The Rock National was led by SG Joseph Hartman.
