Steven Gerrard admits that Mohamed Salah has "dropped off" this season
Salah's outburst earlier in the season is likely to be one of the most remembered things about the 2025-26 campaign.
The fact that he came out and said that his relationship was non-existent was shocking and, even though he admitted his time at Anfield might be up, he's managed to return from AFCON and get back into Slot's starting XI.
Salah's performances have definitely improved over the last couple of games but, unfortunately for the attacker, those outings still aren't enough to convince Gerrard that he's as good as he used to be.
“I think the other thing as well is that they bought Isak for a lot of money and he was brought in as another option to beat the block," he said live on TNT Sports.
“Wirtz was brought in to open the door, he’s took his time to get up to speed.
“Ekitike is probably the only one in the front line that you could say has been in form and been consistent.
“Mo Salah has dropped off a little bit in terms of his goal return, if Arne can get all that to click back again, this team and this squad of players are capable of going on a real big consistent run and having a really good end to the season.”
Mohamed Salah must prove that he's worthy of being Liverpool's highest-paid player
When Salah extended his Liverpool stay towards the end of last season, fans were all in agreement that the Egyptian King was worth his weight in gold.
He outclassed every single one of his teammates and, to be honest, nobody could get near him.
The 2025-26 campaign has obviously been a different story and if you asked any Liverpool fan, they'd admit that Salah has flopped.
However, with his contract set to expire in 2027, Salah needs to prove that he's worth the £400,000-per-week that he's earning at Anfield before it's too late.
And, if he can't get back to his best, it really wouldn't be that much of a surprise to see him leave next year.
