The Farmers Insurance Open is set for a compelling final round at Torrey Pines, with Justin Rose firmly in control of the tournament.

Rose holds a six-shot lead heading into the final day, a margin that underlines just how dominant his performance has been through three rounds.

Among those chasing him is Joel Dahmen, who will be paired with Rose in the final group, giving him a front-row seat to the level currently being set.

Having already spent time alongside Rose during the week, Dahmen offered an unusually candid assessment of what makes the Englishman so difficult to keep pace with right now.

Joel Dahmen praises Justin Rose’s longevity

Speaking ahead of the final round, Dahmen made it clear that Rose’s current form has not gone unnoticed by his fellow professionals.

“Yeah, it’s really impressive,” Dahmen said. “To still have the drive with the career that he’s had is very impressive. I know he puts a lot of work into his body.

“His ability to still grind and practice and spend the time on it when he’s got everything you could want is really impressive, honestly.”

Dahmen went on to explain why Rose’s approach resonates with players across the PGA Tour, particularly those who see firsthand the demands of sustaining success.

“It’s almost inspiring for me,” he added. “I’m seven years younger than him, I’m getting outdrove by more than 30 yards. I’ve got to get in a little better shape to hang out with Justin.”

The comments were delivered with humour, but they underlined a serious point.

Rose’s continued commitment has allowed him to remain competitive against players much younger, a trait that has stood out throughout the week at Torrey Pines.

Joel Dahmen jokes about his slim hopes of catching Justin Rose

When asked about his own chances of lifting the trophy, Dahmen did not attempt to dress up the situation. Instead, he leaned into the reality of Rose’s dominance so far.

“My only hope is if he doesn’t set his alarm or he somehow starts hitting in the rough on the back nine maybe,” Dahmen claimed.

“I don’t know. The way he’s playing and what he’s doing, I would be pleased with second place.”

Dahmen’s remarks captured the mood heading into the final round. Rose has not just been leading, he has been setting an unmatchable standard.

As the tournament reaches its conclusion, the spotlight remains firmly on Rose, with Dahmen’s honesty only reinforcing how impressive the task ahead truly is.
