Man United 3-2 Fulham: Sesko’s strike seals Red Devils win in five-goal thriller

Manchester United continued their brilliant start under interim manager Michael Carrick, edging Fulham 3-2 at Old Trafford in a Premier League thriller on Sunday.

United began on the brighter side, with Amad Diallo’s curling effort parried away by Bernd Leno, before the German goalkeeper saved Harry Maguire’s header moments later.

Joachim Andersen called Senne Lammens into action for the first time, as the Belgian goalkeeper showed good hands to push the Fulham’s defender effort behind.

Casemiro put Man United ahead, rising highest to thump Bruno Fernandes’s free-kick into the far corner.

With an acre of space ahead of him, Alex Iwobi rifled a long-range shot which was comfortably saved by Lammens. That proved to be the last chance before the break.

The second half started frenetically with chances at both ends.

Leno came off his line to smother Mbeumo’s effort, before Lisandro Martinez made a timely clearance to put out Samuel Chukwueze’s dangerous cross.

Lammens then made a superb stop to keep out Harry Wilson’s free-kick but moments later, United doubled their advantage.

Casemiro threaded a pass to Matheus Cunha, who rifled an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

Jorge Cuenca thought he had halved the Cottagers’ deficit on 67 minutes with a tap-in from close range, but his effort was deemed offside.

Five minutes from time, Raul Jimenez made it 2-1, converting a penalty he won himself, setting up a tense finale.

Substitute Kevin completed the comeback in stoppage time, beating the outstretched Lammens with a curling strike, netting his first Premier League goal.

However, Benjamin Sesko restored United’s lead with a side-footed finish to make it 3-2, bringing an end to an enthralling encounter.
