AC Milan strike fresh deal with Chelsea midfielder, claims Gianluca Di Marzio

With less than 36 hours to go until the January transfer window closes, Chelsea may still look to bring in a new player before time runs out. Liam Rosenior has not ruled out a late addition but, with time running short, most of the focus is likely to be on departures rather than arrivals.

With less than 36 hours to go until the January transfer window closes, Chelsea may still look to bring in a new player before time runs out.

Liam Rosenior has not ruled out a late addition but, with time running short, most of the focus is likely to be on departures rather than arrivals.

Aaron Anselmino is set for a loan move to Strasbourg after being recalled from Borussia Dortmund, and several others have been linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge. Raheem Sterling has also become a free agent.

West Ham are keeping an eye on Axel Disasi as the window winds down, while other squad players could follow Kendry Paez’s path, who has just moved to River Plate in Argentina after his recall.

Yahya Idrissi Regragui has spent the last couple of years featuring regularly for Chelsea’s U18s. The 18-year-old made the switch from West Ham in 2021 and has remained within the club’s academy setup ever since.

He has signed a contract valid until 2028 and made 26 appearances for the U18s so far. However, this season he has only featured once and appears set to move to Italy.

Gianluca Di Marzio reported on Saturday evening that Regragui is close to finalising a move to AC Milan, catching many by surprise.

Di Marzio published on X: “AC Milan has signed Yahya Idrissi Regragui from Chelsea on a permanent transfer. The player is already in Milan.”

Who else might leave Chelsea before the deadline?

Disasi and Anselmino are both expected to move on before Monday evening’s deadline, but they might not be the only ones. Marc Guiu could also look for another loan opportunity after his spell at Sunderland was cut short.

Tyrique George is attracting interest from several Premier League sides, while Filip Jorgensen has been linked with Bayer Leverkusen and West Ham over the past month.

Chelsea have plenty to sort out before the window closes, though most of the activity is likely to involve players heading out rather than new faces coming in to join Rosenior’s project.

Regragui adds another name to a growing list of players who have moved from Chelsea to Milan in recent years. Christian Pulisic, Fikayo Tomori, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Christopher Nkunku have all made similar moves to the Italian club.
