MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The Permian Basin Fellowship of Christian Athletes held its draft day this afternoon at Midland Shared Spaces.
This summer will mark the fourth annual Marks Family Classic All-Star Games. The sports that will be played include football, volleyball, golf, cross-country, cheerleading, and athletic training. The games will take place on June 10-13, and coaches from the Permian Basin met up to draft their teams from the games.
The two football coaches leading the way are John Fellows from Kermit and Erik Hartman from Odessa. For Fellows, he’s looking forward to be in a leadership role.
“I’m extremely excited that they asked me to be a head coach this year,” Fellows said. “This is my third year doing it, and it’s a tremendous event. Three days, four days, it’s awesome; I’m so excited to be a part of this.”
As for Hartman, he loves the way the program impacts the athletes not just on the field, but off of it as well.
“We’re using the avenue of sports to go through this, but it’s really all about Christ and changing a kid’s life, and not just a moment in the summer, but for a lifetime and even eternity,” Hartman said.
