Romano: Chelsea turn down big money offer for first team player this window

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have turned down a big money offer for defender Josh Acheampong this window.

Maybe they should actually try using him a bit then, no?

This winter transfer window has been all about centre backs at Chelsea. They have spent the whole window trying to sign defender Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, with that now over. It appears that the youngster has chosen Liverpool over Chelsea, and if you believe the briefs, Chelsea backed off anyway due to having Acheampong already in the ranks, and making a decision to recall Mamadou Sarr from his loan move at sister club Strasbourg. Hmmmm.

We live in times when you never know what to believe in the media these days and we will never know what is actually true and what is not.

But either way, what has happened here has been a wild ride.

Chelsea spend January trying to sign Jacquet from Rennes, that doesn’t happen and he goes to Liverpool instead.

Meanwhile, Chelsea recall another defender, Aaron Anselmino from his loan move at Dortmund with the obvious intent of sending him on to Strasbourg to cover the Chelsea recall of Sarr from them. Madness.

Acheampong bid rejected

And now, it’s emerged that Chelsea have also rejected a big offer for Acheampong this window.

As cited on X last night, Romano said:

‘Chelsea have turned down “big money” for Josh Acheampong this window.’

Well, it will all be over again by this evening, thankfully. Another transfer saga involving Chelsea, and another big transfer saga where they have missed out on a top target that they have been raving about and apparently really wanted to sign. It’s not a good look at all.
