Guernsey FC record goalscorer Ross Allen says he is accepting he has to play a reduced role for the island side.
The 38-year-old, who was part of the Green Lions' first squad in 2011, took his career tally to 327 goals for the club after scoring twice in Saturday's 3-2 win over Steyning Town.
Allen came off early in the second half having made it five goals in his last two games.
"I've just got to be patient and understand that I can't play every game, I can't play every minute," Allen told BBC Radio Guernsey.
"I've think I've had three or four now where I've had to come off after an hour or 70 minutes down here.
"So it's understanding that it's important for me to step out and let other people come on and do a job."
Allen has spent the bulk of his playing career with the island side, bar a two-year spell in New Zealand.
He won the Oceania Champions League with Team Wellington in 2018 and went on to play at that year's Club World Cup before returning home in 2019.
Allen now spreads his time between Guernsey FC and managing the Guernsey Football Association's academy - a role where he is now starting to see youngsters he has coached join him in the Green Lions' line-up.
"I'm loving the experience of it all because it's a new experience, especially down here, a really fresh group and some players that I've been coaching for a few years now coming into the team.
"It's just a joy to be in that part of their development, their journey and just hanging on until I have to hang up those boots one day."
