The Men’s Other Top 25: Saint Mary’s and Miami (OH) claim unanimous top spots

The Billikens and RedHawks are a combined 43-1 this season

Saint Louis is atop the Men’s Other Top 25 for a third straight week. The Billikens are 21-1 and 9-0 in the Atlantic 10. They have won 15 straight games with their lone loss this season coming on a last-second 3-pointer against Stanford back in November in the final day of the Acrisure Invitational.

Josh Schertz’s team sits 16th in the NET, 21st in BartTovik and 25th in KenPom. It is top 25 in adjusted defensive efficiency (20th) and tempo (23rd), per KenPom. It is No. 1 in the nation in both effective field goal percentage and effective field goal percentage defense, according to Torvik. SLU is sixth in the nation by averaging 91.4 points per game and leads the country by outscoring its opponents by 23 points a night.

The Billikens rolled Dayton 102-71 Friday. That marked the seventh time this season they have eclipsed the century mark.

Miami (OH) stayed perfect with a pair of wins this past week and improved to 22-0. The RedHawks are one of two undefeated teams – along with Arizona. They escaped with a two-point win over Miami before defeating Northern Illinois by 24 Saturday.

Travis Steele’s group is 53rd in the NET, 82nd in Torvik and 89th in KenPom. It is 42nd in tempo, per Torvik. Miami leads the nation at 93.7 points per game.

The Atlantic 10 has two of the top four teams this week as George Mason moved up two spots to No. 4. The Patriots are 20-2 and jumped Saint Mary’s and San Diego St., who each took losses Saturday.

The only addition to the top 10 was Belmont, who rose four spots from No. 13 to ninth. Nevada and UNC Wilmington were the biggest movers as they each jumped up five spots. The Wolf Pack moved up to 11th, while the Seahawks came in at No. 20.

Three new teams joined the ranking UC Irvine, Portland St. and Montana. They replaced Murray St., Dayton and North Dakota St.
