Liverpool have got some contract issues to resolve over the coming weeks and months.
The signing of Jeremy Jacquet for summer 2026 might well indicate that Ibrahima Konate is a lost cause. With the France defender out of contract in 2026 sporting director Richard Hughes has made a significant investment in a long-term successor.
Jacquet is only 20 and with the Premier League champions paying up to £60m for the Rennes player’s services it would be expected that the French under-21 star comes in as a starter.
And if Konate’s future is decided one way or another then Hughes will have no choice but to move on with other contracts.
Szoboszlai sounds contract alarm
Next up are midfielders Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai.

The title-winning pair were signed in the summer of 2023 - inking deals until 2028. Their development together in the Liverpool engine room has been profound - emerging as two of the best midfielders in the world.
Fans will hope that club decision-makers run into no difficulty in renewing their deals but right now the signs are not altogether positive in the case of Szoboszlai.
The Hungary international is reported to be making around £120k to £150k per week.
While that is indeed a substantial amount it is far below the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva and Jude Bellingham at rival clubs.
The 25-year-old will be well aware of his worth in any contract negotiations therefore and he offered yet another non-committal update over the weekend.
Future 'out of my hands' says Dominik Szoboszlai
Speaking to the media following the Reds’ 4-1 win over Newcastle the playmaker stated that his future is now out of his hands.
Whether that indicates a standoff in negotiations or not remains to be seen - but right now it looks far from straightforward.
“Nothing yet, to be honest,” he said per The Athletic. “Nothing, from now on… it is not in my hands.
“It works this way. When you would like to stay, then to be honest it is not…. there is no progression but if the right offer comes then let’s see.
“Right now I am doing my job on the pitch, we will see in the future.
“I like the city, I like the club, I like playing with these guys. I love Anfield, I love the fans, let’s see what the future holds. It is not on me. I would love to (stay).
“Not long term, not even medium term to be honest in my head."
Liverpool will be well aware of the dangers lurking around the corner for Szoboszlai. Right now they are facing a freeze in talks with Konate while the future of Curtis Jones also remains up in the air.
It looks like the homegrown midfielder could be SOLD in summer if no new deal is agreed - considering he is out of contract in 2027.
