Benjamin Sesko came up with the biggest goal of his Manchester United career so far in the 3-2 win against Fulham.

The Slovenian forward joined United in August, having made no secret of his desire to one day play for the club. He was thrilled to make it happen.

The six-year interest the Red Devils showed in Sesko appears to be yielding positive results, demonstrating the commitment of both the club and the player.

The 22-year-old has already scored six goals for the club, with four coming in 2026 alone. Despite not yet starting a game under Michael Carrick, he has managed to find form and consistency.

And his powerful finish against Fulham not only gave United a lead but also brought out a huge reaction from the crowd and his teammates.

Sesko’s goal kept Manchester United’s run going under Carrick and underlined the kind of presence he can have in front of goal.

The Slovenian striker looks to be playing with more belief lately, and any early concerns from fans seem to have faded away.

Former United defender Rio Ferdinand expressed his delight for Sesko on his YouTube channel, noting that he had received encouraging updates from Carrington about the No. 30.

The former centre-back said: “What I would say about him from people on the training ground is his attitude is first class.

“He’s in every day, early, ready to prepare for training, ready to do the extras before training, getting his body right, to make sure that he’s ready to go out there and give his best every day in training, no stone is left unturned.

“And they say especially for a young kid, his mindset and his attitude has been first class.”

The celebrations following Sesko’s stoppage time winner were no surprise according to Ferdinand. The squad was clearly happy for him.

“That’s why you see the guys in the changing room raring about on the pitch reacting to his goal in the way that they were all so happy for him.

“You only get that type of reaction when they go, ‘you know what? He’s likable, and you must be a good kid, and you must show traits of someone who works really hard’.

“So good luck to him, man. I want him to do well.”

Benjamin Sesko pushing for more game time

Sesko is pushing for more minutes at Manchester United but faces a tough challenge in Bryan Mbeumo, who has been in good form.

With limited opportunities, he has had to be patient and make the most of his chances. His last two goals have both come off the bench.

Ferdinand truly believes Sesko can be the long-term answer for Man United’s striker position, as he said: “He’s got all the attributes you’d want in your number nine, by the way, modern day player.

“He’s big, he’s strong, he’s athletic, he’s agile, he’s got a clean strike.”
