Is FC Bayern at risk with its phenom?
Real keeping close on Karl? (Defense Central)
Ah, you knew this would be coming. Real Madrid is keeping a close eye on Bayern Munich attacker Lennart Karl, who has had a very solid start to his career, despite a recent funk:
Real Madrid is already working on its summer transfer strategy. Although some question the club’s efforts to strengthen its squad, its scouting department is closely monitoring several players. One of them is Lennart Karl , the highly touted young talent from Bayern Munich. All the major clubs are exploring the possibility of signing him in the coming years.
“Lennart Karl: The crown jewel of the €90 million market! He’s the Bayern Munich sensation at just 17 years old, and now he’s the number one target for most of Europe’s top clubs. The ‘next Robben’ is making history! His value is €80-90 million and his dream is to join Real Madrid, who are keeping a close eye on him,” says Ekrem Konur, a transfer market expert.
Karl has seven goals and three assists in 28 games across all competitions so far this season — and right now he is considered to truly be a top prospect. However, the key for Karl will be how he performs this during the second half of the season, how he adapts to teams changing their approach to him, and showing that he can be consistent over the course of the season.
Svensson rejects Bremen (Transfermarkt)
Werder Bremen is attempting to hire a new coach, but one guy who will not be manning the helm is Bo Svensson. Svensson, of course, previously coached at FC Liefering, Mainz 05, and Union Berlin:
Werder suffers another setback in their search for a new manager. According to “Bild”, the favourite Bo Svensson has turned them down because he lacked conviction regarding the squad quality and the overall situation. ❌
However, not all of the news coming out of Werder Bremen was bad this week. Marco Friedl rejected a move to Wolfsburg in an effort to help Werder Bremen stay in the Bundesliga:
Sky Info: VfL #Wolfsburg wanted to sign #Werder captain Marco #Friedl in January. Offer submitted for more than 10 million. But Friedl consciously decided against the move to achieve the turnaround and league survival with #Bremen @Sky_SvenT @SkySportDE
Ronaldo to leave Saudis? (ESPN)
Things could be getting so bad between Cristiano Ronaldo and Saudi Arabia that the 40-year-old star could be considering alternative options for the next stage of his career:
Interest in Cristiano Ronaldo is already heating up in Europe and MLS, according to TEAMtalk. Ronaldo, 40, refused to play for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League side’s 1-0 win over Al Riyadh, and sources told ESPN he is unhappy about the way the league conducted the Karim Benzema transfer to Al Hilal. The Manchester Evening News has linked the Portugal international with a return to Manchester United, while several other big clubs in Europe are willing to reshape their sporting projects to sign him.
ICYMI: LFC lands Jacquet (Liverpool FC)
Liverpool wrapped up its deal for Stade Rennais defender Jérémy Jacquet:
Sancho back to the BuLi? (Football Insider)
Is Jadon Sancho headed back to the Bundesliga? Maybe.
The Englishman, who had two previous stints at Borussia Dortmund, is expected o leave Aston Villa:
Jadon Sancho is eyeing a return to the Bundesliga in the summer as he is unlikely to remain at Aston Villa or return to Man United as things stand. Former United and Villa scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that a return to the Bundesliga, where he previously impressed with Borussia Dortmund, is now on the cards.
“He’s going to leave Villa at the end of his loan spell,” Brown told Football Insider. “Then he’ll come back to Man United but his contract is up so he’ll have to see who comes in for him. Before the move to Villa there was talk of a move back to Germany, because he’s shown he can perform there in the past and he’s highly regarded there.
“I think the pace of the game suits his style a bit better than the Premier League does, it’s not so much about pace and athleticism as it is here. We’ve seen Sancho perform out there with Dortmund twice, so it’s certainly something I think he will be ready for when he does leave Villa and Man United. Whether it’s Dortmund again or another German club, there was talk before about Saudi as well so that might be something to look out for.
“Either way, he’s not going to be a Man United player for much longer and I wouldn’t expect him to stay at Aston Villa either after this season.”
