Michigan State heads to Minnesota, Illinois welcomes Northwestern and Iowa moves onto Washington in Wednesday’s games.
It’s another night in everyone’s favorite college basketball conference and we’ve got a handful of interesting matchups on our hands.
Michigan State will look to bounce back after falling to rival Michigan at home, Illinois will try to stay hot welcoming Northwestern to Champaign and Iowa is set for the second game of its Pacific Northwest tour, taking on Washington.
No. 10 Michigan State Spartans at Minnesota Golden Gophers

Michigan State’s lengthy winning streak was snapped last week when the Spartans fell to rival Michigan on their own home floor in a game that led to some interesting postgame chatter.
One way or another, the Spartans are looking to start a new streak and will have to do so on the road at The Barn. Minnesota, on the flipside, is in the middle of a spiral after losing seven straight including on the road at Penn State. Can The Barn create enough weird energy for the Gophers to pull off an upset? Probably not.
Michigan State’s defense has been stout all season while the Minnesota offense has lagged. The Gophers’ wins have come when they’re able to drag opponents down into their tempo, which is something of a comfort zone for the Spartans. On top of that, they’re dealing with rapidly piling injury issues.
Look for the Spartans to set the tone here and avoid a repeat of a near-disaster at Rutgers.
Northwestern Wildcats at No. 5 Illinois Fighting Illini

Northwestern hasn’t been able to string two wins together since the non-conference slate and won’t have a chance to do so here after falling to Washington on Saturday.
Illinois, on the other hand, is one of if not the hottest team in the sport with an 11-game winning streak entering this matchup. Keaton Wagler has been excellent as the calendar turned to 2026, making a superstar turn with 46 points to take down Purdue at Mackey Arena.
If Northwestern has a strength its not making mistakes with the ball, they’re right near the top of the country in avoiding turnovers and blocks. It’s not a great offense but it’s done enough to keep the Wildcats in a few games. But the defense is lagging from the heights that made the past few teams a factor in the conference.
Illinois is searing on offense and is just about unstoppable when the shots are falling. The Illini take and make plenty of 3s and I just don’t think the ‘Cats have what it takes to stop them, especially with Wagler playing the way he has.
Northwestern won’t be able to contain the nation’s No. 1 offense on the road and Illinois extends its winning streak to 12 games.
Iowa Hawkeyes at Washington Huskies

The metrics like Iowa a fair amount more than the polls seem to as the Hawkeyes have worked to come back from a three game losing streak at the beginning of January. It wasn’t a bad streak, two of the three were against Purdue and Illinois while The Barn, as previously mentioned, has vexed better teams in the past.
Iowa has strung together four wins since those three losses as it looks to strengthen its NCAA Tournament seeding ahead of March. Washington, on the other hand, won’t be dancing this season barring a remarkable late season turnaround.
Washington plays a pretty miserable brand of ball that eschews the 3-point line for all 2s all the time and I just don’t think that’ll be enough to make up for facing a precision-based offense like that of Iowa. The Huskies haven’t won back-to-back Big Ten games all season and have a shot to do so here.
But, like, I doubt it.
