SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Padres have agreed to terms with veteran corner infielder/outfielder Miguel Andújar, bringing another experienced bat to their 2026 roster, according to reports.

The right-handed hitter — who had drawn interest from multiple clubs over the winter — will join the Friars on a one-year contract that guarantees him $4 million for the upcoming season, with the possibility of additional incentives, as per industry sources.

Andújar, 30, enters the season after a productive 2025 campaign split between the Oakland Athletics and Cincinnati Reds.

Last season, he posted impressive offensive numbers with a .318/.352/.470 with 10 homers, especially showcasing strong production against left-handed pitching — a trait that could give San Diego flexibility in matchup-based roles.

The addition of Andújar provides the Padres with a versatile right-handed bat who can step into roles at multiple positions, including corner infield spots and the outfield, as well as potentially serving as a designated hitter against certain pitching matchups.

His career to this point includes major league experience with the New York Yankees earlier in his career, where he was known for his bat. San Diego’s front office has been actively working to address offensive needs this offseason, especially after losing Jurickson Profar and navigating a thinner crop of left field options in 2025.

While Andújar’s defensive metrics in the field have been mixed at times, his ability to contribute with the bat — particularly against southpaws — could make him a valuable depth piece in the Padres’ bench mix.

The club’s strategy this winter has combined cost-controlled signings with internal development, aiming to piece together a balanced roster capable of competing throughout a long season.

As spring training approaches, Andújar’s addition signals San Diego’s continued commitment to refining its lineup and bolstering offensive depth without sacrificing financial flexibility.

Fans and analysts alike will be watching how manager Craig Stammen deploys him once pitchers and catchers report.
