Bayern pursuing Havertz….again? (Fichajes)

Bayern Munich has been linked to Arsenal attacker and Germany international Kai Havertz off-and-on for years.

Now, Bayern Munich is — allegedly — interested again:

Bayern Munich have identified Kai Havertz as the star signing needed to boost their European competitiveness next season. The Bavarian club’s sporting management are looking to capitalize on the attacker’s situation in London, where fierce competition has limited his playing time under Arteta.

With an eye on the summer of 2026, the German giant aims to build an offensive capable of dominating on all fronts. The versatility of the German international is the key factor that has convinced the technical staff at the Sabener Strasse offices.

Bayern Munich sees Kai Havertz as the ideal partner to enhance the performance of their star player, Harry Kane. Within Kompany’s 4-2-3-1 system, the attacking midfield role seems tailor-made for the former Bayer Leverkusen player’s qualities. This addition would allow for top-level rotation alongside established talents like Jamal Musiala and Colombian winger Luis Díaz.

This player’s versatility would allow Bayern Munich to adapt to different game scenarios without losing depth or link-up play. Whether playing as an attacking midfielder or starting from the wings, his vision and ability to arrive late into the box are attributes highly valued by Kompany.

Bayern Munich’s management is preparing a financial proposal that reflects the importance of this move for the immediate future of the German club. If the deal goes through, the team would take a significant leap forward, once again positioning itself as the top contender for the Champions League.

The mutual interest between the club and the player appears to be the driving force behind the negotiations during the coming months of planning.

Bayern Munich remains committed to its philosophy of recruiting key players from the national team to strengthen its squad. The coming weeks will be crucial in determining Arsenal’s final financial demands in light of the interest shown from Germany.

It seems…crazy to think that Bayern Munich would be eyeing a move for Havertz for a couple of reasons:

  • There really is nowhere for him to play.
  • A move for Havertz would likely cost more than Bayern Munich would want to pay.

So, while this might be a fun rumor for the tabloids, it likely has no substance (at least not any that we can see at the moment).

BVB on longest unbeaten streak in BuLi (BVB Buzz)

You might have missed this, but Borussia Dortmund has the longest current unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga:

Borussia Dortmund are on a roll – at least in the Bundesliga. And the stats don’t lie. They have lost just once all season – the lowest alongside leaders and defending champions Bayern Munich, while their points tally of 45 in 20 games is the highest bar the Bavarians.

More importantly, Niko Kovac’s side are currently on the longest active unbeaten run in the competition right now, having gone their last 13 top-flight fixtures without a loss. Their last and only defeat of the campaign came on 18 October against – surprise surprise – Bayern, who beat them 2-1 at the Allianz Arena.

Sevilla wants to sign Ramos (Diario de Sevilla via ESPN)

Sevilla could be looking to bring back Sergio Ramos:

Sevilla are considering re-signing 39-year-old defender Sergio Ramos for a third stint. Ramos is a free agent after leaving Monterrey in December and the former Real Madrid star began his career at Sevilla before returning to the club 18 years later for the 2023-24 campaign.

Trouble with Undav extension at Stuttgart (Sport Bild)

VfB Stuttgart might have to pay a little more for an extension with Deniz Undav that it first thought:

Every goal is a valuable asset in contract negotiations. But it also carries the risk of him becoming increasingly sought after by other clubs. And Deniz Undav (29) has certainly been scoring plenty of goals lately. With eleven league goals, the VfB Stuttgart striker is the top German scorer and sits second in the goalscoring charts behind Bayern Munich star Harry Kane (32/22 goals).

The negotiations will begin soon. While Undav’s current contract runs until June 2027, sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth (46) shouldn’t wait too long to negotiate a possible extension. SPORT BILD has learned that clubs from Europe’s top leagues, especially the Premier League, are showing interest.

For the man from Varel in Friesland (Lower Saxony), this will be the last major contract of his career. The player’s representatives would like to extend for three years, while VfB Stuttgart are leaning towards two. Undav can’t expect more money. With around €4.5 million, he’s one of the top earners at the fourth-placed club, and the management wants to avoid disrupting the existing wage structure.

Should Undav leave, VfB Stuttgart intends to cash in on his departure. After all, the striker’s total package (transfer fee of €26.7 million to Brighton in 2024, plus salary) has so far cost them around €40 million. Undav’s market value is currently €20 million. But that won’t be enough for Stuttgart. Not by a long shot

English clubs battling for Tonali (ESPN)

Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea might all want Lennart Karl, but they also want Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali:

Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea are all interested in Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, according to The Sun. Mikel Arteta is a big admirer of the Italy international and wants to pair him with Declan Rice in the Gunners’ midfield. The Gunners were even alerted to a possible move on deadline day, but it went nowhere. City boss Pep Guardiola is also a big fan of the 25-year-old and his Magpies teammate Tino Livramento, while Chelsea are monitoring Tonali. However, he and his wife are reported to be happy in the North East and he isn’t actively looking for an exit.

ICYMI: Netz moves to Forest (Fabrizio Romano)

In the frenzy of the winter transfer window deadline, Luca Netz moved from Borussia Mönchengladbach to Nottingham Forest:

Mergner leaves Bayern (FCBayern.com)

Bayern Munich II midfielder Max Mergner is headed to Austria:

Another departure from Bayern Munich’s reserve team. Midfielder Max Mergner (19) is transferring to FC First Vienna in the Austrian second division. The Starnberg native joined the youth academy of the German record champions back in 2014 at the U9 level and progressed through all the youth teams. This season, the defensive midfielder made five appearances in the Regionalliga Bayern (fourth tier), but only started once. In Vienna, Mergner now aims to fight for more playing time. He will be reunited with his former teammates on February 14th at a closed-door friendly match in Vienna. +++
